(1) To move the reference end of the thermocouple from a high-temperature location to a location with a more stable ambient temperature.

(4) Replacing thermocouples with thicker diameter compensating wires and higher conductivity reduces the resistance of the thermocouple circuit, facilitating measurement and automatic control.
