Armored Thermocouple Cable

Armored Thermocouple Cable
Product Introduction:
When thermocouple cables are installed outdoors or underground, they are exposed to multiple mechanical risks such as crushing loads, construction damage, and rodent attacks. Our Armored thermocouple cable is designed to address these conditions. A steel tape armor layer is applied over the standard compensating wire construction. This armor provides high mechanical strength, absorbing external impact and resisting pressure, while protecting the inner conductors and insulation system. As a result, temperature signal transmission remains stable even in harsh installation environments.

Protection for Buried and Outdoor Runs

When thermocouple cables are installed outdoors or underground, they are exposed to multiple mechanical risks such as crushing loads, construction damage, and rodent attacks. Our Armored thermocouple cable is designed to address these conditions. A steel tape armor layer is applied over the standard compensating wire construction. This armor provides high mechanical strength, absorbing external impact and resisting pressure, while protecting the inner conductors and insulation system. As a result, temperature signal transmission remains stable even in harsh installation environments.

The armor layer and the shielding layer serve different purposes and operate independently. The inner shielding layer is designed for electromagnetic interference (EMI) protection. It consists of aluminum foil shielding on each pair combined with an overall tinned copper braid, ensuring stable and accurate temperature signal transmission.

The outer steel tape armor is designed for mechanical protection. It prevents physical damage caused by impact, compression, or rodent activity. These two systems do not interfere with each other and work together to ensure both electrical performance and mechanical durability.

For installation, the minimum bending radius of the armored structure should be at least 12 times the cable diameter. Proper installation planning is required to ensure safe routing.

Built for Long-Term Outdoor Performance

The outer jacket is made of weather-resistant PVC, offering resistance to oil, corrosion, UV exposure, and aging. This ensures reliable long-term performance in outdoor and underground applications.

During production, the steel tape overlap and tension are carefully controlled to ensure consistent armor strength without damaging the inner cable structure. Each production batch undergoes full electrical and visual inspection to ensure compliance with quality requirements.

Our products comply with IEC 60584-3 standards. Common armored models such as KX22, KC22, SX22, SC22, and TX22 are available from stock. Non-standard configurations and customized specifications are also supported. For export shipments, moisture-resistant packaging is used to ensure safe transportation over long distances.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How is installation different for armored thermocouple cable compared to standard types?

A: The main difference is the required bending radius. Standard thermocouple cables typically require a minimum bending radius of 6 times the cable diameter, while armored cables require at least 12 times due to the steel tape structure. Armored cables are also heavier, so proper handling equipment such as cable reel stands is recommended during installation. The cable should not be dragged on rough surfaces to avoid damage to the outer jacket. When installed correctly, armored cables provide significantly higher mechanical protection, especially for underground and outdoor applications.

Q: What is the lead time for this product?

A: Standard armored models are available in stock and can typically be shipped within 3 to 5 days. For customized versions, such as special calibration types or non-standard core configurations, the lead time is usually around one week. We operate a dedicated production line for armored cables, ensuring stable capacity and timely delivery even for large-volume orders.
